Unilever to increase production in Greece

Unilever is set to develop a new production line in Greece in order to cater to the growing demand for product currently available via Italian imports into the country.

The personal care giant has predicted it will produce the first liquid detergents at its plant in Piraeus as of the first quarter in 2019 with the investment set to reach around 5 million euros in order to produce around 10,000 tonnes per annum.

As part of its focus on the Greek market, the company is also looking to move the production of its Lux brand from Saudi Arabia to Greece during a gradual transfer.

Speaking at a press conference, Jean-Francois Etienne, Unilever’s managing director for Southeast Europe, said, “There is a plan unfolding for the gradual relocation of all production from Saudi Arabia to Greece.”
The new plans follow a spend of 120 million euros from the period of 2010 to 2017 within the country.
